Apps & Web 2.0

A major component of the Digital Literacy curriculum is learning how to use iPad apps and web 2.0 tools. We all know that the web is filled with literally thousands of digital tools and resources used for curation, creation, and communication, and new and innovative tools continue to be developed and published daily.

Obviously it would be impossible to cover every iPad app and Web 2.0 tool available. However, throughout the semester, students will focus on learning the Burlington High School essential apps as well as several interactive Web 2.0 tools. The apps and web tools selected will help students develop an organized workflow, allow them to properly access and filter web content, encourage innovation and creativity, and promote responsible and ethical online communication and interactions. Furthermore, students will use these tools to manage their e-reputations and develop a positive online brand image.

The goal is for students to transfer and apply the knowledge and skill they have developed in this course to their other courses. Additionally, students will be encouraged to find and evaluate apps and web tools which are not on the list below, but that are engaging and could be used in an educational setting.
